Casey Neistat is the famous American Youtuber born on March 25, 1981. And not just a youtuber , Casey has been a filmmaker, vlogger and developer of a famous Multimedia company, Beme.

Early Life and Background

Casey Neistat was born to a Jewish family under the tradition of Judaism in Gares Ferry on March 25, 1981. At the age of 17, he dropped out of school and never graduated.

Casey further left his parents at the age of 17, along with his son Owen from his girlfriend Harris. During that time, he worked as a dishwasher and a part time cook to earn his daily bread. Later Casey Neistat moved to New York city to make a move in his career.

Casey Neistat married Candice Poo in the year 2005 which once ended with an annulment a month later and the couple became engaged once again and on December 29, got married in South Africa. They have a daughter together.

1. Career as a Youtuber :

Casey Neistat started video making in 2003 wherein he created a video named ‘ iPOD’s dirty secret’ targeting Apple iPOD on the fact that its irreplaceable battery lasted within 18 months and the cost of replacing it after the warranty period was equivalent to buying a new iPOD.

After this Casey created a self named channel on Youtube in 2010. He posted his first video on the channel regarding emergency brake cords on train cars. He further released another short video criticizing the New York Police Department for ticketing cyclists. Following these videos Casey began posting about his Vlogs and many of his Vlogs went viral providing him a lot of publicity.

His subscribers crossed 7 million by mid 2017, making him the most popular American Youtuber on the social media platform.

Casey Neistat revolutionised the way advertisements work , both for the company being advertised and the people viewing those ads. He clearly identified what the advertisers want and how general public would accept those ads – with a mix of authenticity, creativity and adventure , relating them to their personal lives.

2. Career as a Filmmaker :

In 2001, Casey Neistat produced a lot of short videos following the Apple’s Dirty Secret , he gained immense popularity paving his way for another short film ‘ The Science Experiments’ showing a lot about various experiments. Gaining fame and popularity, Casey became a part of HBO film in 2010 named “ The Neistat’s brothers “ depicting the adventures of brother Van and mates Tom Scott and Mason along with their friends and family.

Casey didn’t fear being famous in this field of media as well and gained lot of popularity and fan base.

3. Career as an Entrepreneur :

Casey along with the co-founder Matt Hackett developed a video sharing app name “Beme” in 2015  without any filters or enhancements. People could generate a 4 seconds video and share it on the platform without any need of approval and of their true self as he mentioned in one of his interviews: “Truth is so much more interesting than the fiction we’re used to”. The app was later acquired by CNN in 2016 for $25 million. The app was later shutdown in early 2017.

4. Other Work :

Casey also delivered motivational speeches on numerous topics related to his career and life experiences teaching many others. He gave a speech at a conference conduced in South Carolina on October 15, 2010 and also at The Nantucket Project which was attended by personalities, such as American businessman Eddie Lampert, politician Rahm Emanuel, and Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt. In 2012, Neistat lectured students of TEDx Parker School, Chicago.

Awards and Achievements

Casey won the ‘John Cassavetes Award’ in the year 2010 presented by the Independent Spirit Awards. He also won the ‘Streamy Awards’ in the categories ‘Best First-Person Series’ and ‘Best Editing’ in the year 2016.  Interestlingly, He also won ‘YouTuber of the Year’ award at the Shorty Awards event in the same year.

Later, he received the ‘New Media Star award’ at the GQ Men of the Year award event.

Well, there is no end to Casey’s career in multiple fields and the kind of achiever he was, well recognized and appreciated by all. The best to know is he never attended a film school or got any professional training for generating this amazing content and influencing many.
