YouTube, the content creating platform recently changed its Monetization policy in the wake to regain Advertisers’ trust. Google recently witnessed a hike in the number of content/ video creators earning their digital income in six digits. There has been 40% hike or increase year after year in the number of people earning through YouTube.

Reasons behind change in monetization policies:

Google in order to ensure that bad content creators do not ruin the content quality of the platform and produce unhealthy content. Controversies over Internet related YouTube’s vetting content has spread like fire and enraged Google to take strict actions regarding the same.

New Monetisation Policy:

Starting from today onwards, Google transfers the monetization access to only those YouTubers through the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) with 4000 hours of watch time and 1000 subscribers in the past 12 months. In comparison to the Monetization Policy set in 2017, recent policy is all set to mark higher standards.

The new Monetization policy is applicable from today itself for the new YouTube content creators, while for the existing users the policy will be in effect from February 20, 2018.

Furthermore the authorities are all set to prevent offensive content before inducting them into the YPP.

According to the Google, using all these changes it will be able to divert money from bad actors and prevent offensive content being paid.

Company also mentioned that the changes in policy are a way to tackle potential abuse of large and desperate group of channels. The Company is tensed about how people and advertisers see YouTube. Company also looks forward to communicate or engage in conversation with creators in the following months pertaining to what are creator’s views and thoughts for the content and how it can be tackled.

Company also mentioned to closely monitor signals like community strikes, spam, and other abuse flags to ensure they comply with our policies. All new and existing YPP channels will be automatically evaluated under these strict criteria and if the company finds a channel repeatedly or egregiously violating the community guidelines, the company shall remove that channel from YPP. As always, if the account has been issued three community guidelines strikes, the company will remove that user’s accounts and channels from YouTube.

The changes are exclusive to Google Preferred Program all supposed to be meant for quality and popular content. Further Google adds on that the initiative is not meant to discard other content creators rather they can utilise Creator Academy, Help Center and Creator Site to grow their audience.

Further YouTube is all set to introduce a new “three-tier suitability system” in the next coming months aimed at giving marketers more control over the trade-off between running ads in safer environments versus reaching more viewers.

YouTube is working way ahead to enhance its platform and content creator’s quality. The platform is all set to provide only deserving creators to avail monetization facilities and so are Google into the process.
