The latest series of mirrorless cameras is back with the latest addition to X series that is, Fujifilm X-E3.
Fujifilm India launched its new camera on Wednesday with a starting price of Rs.70,999(only body). The “X-E3” with “23mm F2” kit costs Rs 89,999 and “18-55” kit costs Rs 1,02,999.The X series began it’s journey in 2011 and is now the most widely used camera by photographers. The Japanese imaging technology aims to occupy the top position in the mirror-less photographers by 2019. The new addition features 24.3MP APS –C sized X-Trans CMOS III sensor and X- processor pro-image processing engine. It has large phase detection auto-focus (AF) area and an updated algorithm to deliver fastest AF speed of 0.06 sec.
“X-E3” provides 5.0 fps live-view shooting, a quick start-up time of 0.4 seconds, a shutter time lag of 0.050 seconds along with a shooting interval of 0.25 seconds. The camera captures moving objects better as compared to previous models. The top of the camera has two dials: one for shutter and other for exposure. The Auto mode selection lever is ideal for less-experienced users who’d like the camera to choose the optimum settings for a given scene. To process Program mode one is required to set both the aperture on the lens and shutter speed to its ‘A’ setting.
The sensor and processor pairing in the camera has improved response speeds in many areas, with a faster start-up time (0.4 seconds), shorter shutter lag time (0.05 seconds) and reduced shooting interval (0.25 seconds). There’s the option to shoot at a brisk 8fps using the mechanical shutter, or up to a blisteringly fast 14fps by engaging the X-E3’s electronic shutter. The number of frames the X-E3 can shoot consecutively has improved with the help of the new processor. The camera also has the “Touch Function”, in which one can use flick motions in up – down and right – left directions.
Using the drag motion on the touch screen panel, even while keeping our eye on the Electric View Finder (EVF), to change the focus area location we can click better photographs. Fujifilm has made a camera that advances on the aesthetics of its predecessors. It hosts Fujifilm’s most up-to-date sensor and processor technology X-E3 offers a very satisfying user experience. It takes time to get used to the fact there’s no four-way controller or built-in flash, but the customisable touch functions are excellent and it highlights that Fujifilm’s touchscreen functionality is getting better with each new release.
The addition of Bluetooth makes the process of pairing it with mobile device slightly easier, users will want to be aware that frequent use of Wi-Fi will drain the battery fairly quickly. A spare battery or USB power bank will be essential for long periods of shooting and rest the camera works up to good user levels
Those who choose the X-E3 are unlikely to be disappointed with their decision. It’s a sound mirror-less camera that puts in a highly respectable performance. So a must try the product.
